Bauer ’49, Erwin F.

Erwin "Erv" Bauer, of Casa Grande, Ariz., born September 7, 1928 passed peacefully February 8, 2017.
Erv was born in Aurora and was the only child of the late Fred Bauer and the late Bertha (Steeger) Bauer both immigrants from Germany. Erv was a smart and precocious boy and was able to skip a grade in school. It was then that he met the love of his life the late Bessie Bettcher also of Aurora. Together they made homes in Illinois, Virginia, Wisconsin and Massachusetts for their five children. Bessie died in 1999 and Erv stayed in the family home until 2002 at which time he moved to a small home in a retirement community. In 2008 he moved to Arizona and lived with his youngest daughter and it was there that he lived out his remaining days.
Erv was a great guy and very generous to all that he came into contact with. He could start a conversation with anyone at anytime. He had a story to fit every occasion and he had the type of voice that would stop people in a crowded room so they could listen in as well. He was a jack of all trades and even a master of a few and loved to share his knowledge with anyone that cared to learn.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, wife Bess, son Brian, daughter Valerie, grandson Patrick and son-in-law Howard Kilchenmann. He is survived by oldest son Bruce (Liane), daughters Trudi and Tracy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was cremated at J Warren Funeral Home in Casa Grande, Ariz. and will be placed next to Bessie at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on June 5, 2017 at 1 p.m.
